Mia Giancola is an honors student enrolled at the University of Connecticut pursuing a dual degree in sociology and social work with a minor in human development and family science. As a person with a disability, her work centers around accessibility and working to advance social justice for persons with disabilities.
Mia Giancola aims to understand the role of resilience and identity formation on the social construction of disability during early childhood, and its manifestation across educational systems. Additionally, she hopes to advocate for social emotional learning and promote literacy rates. She plans to pursue special education policy.
